Methods of reducing bearing vibration

The vibration of the bearing is that the bearing makes regular reciprocating motion near its equilibrium position when it is running. The strength of vibration is measured by the amount of vibration. If the amount of vibration exceeds the allowable range, the bearing will produce large dynamic load and noise, which will affect its working performance and service life, and even lead to early failure of the bearing and machine parts. Therefore, the bearing in the process of use, should try to avoid large vibration. The main methods to reduce vibration are as follows

Reduce the exciting force of vibration in application

When the radial load acts on the bearing, the number of rolling elements bearing the load will change slightly during the rotation process, which leads to slight displacement of the bearing along the load direction and inevitably produces vibration. However, the vibration can be reduced by applying axial preload on all rolling elements, but this method is not suitable for cylindrical roller bearings.

Reduce the shape deviation of mating parts

If there is an interference fit between the bearing ring and the bearing seat or shaft, the bearing ring may deform with the shape of the connecting parts. If there is a deviation between the two, vibration will occur during operation. Therefore, the journal and seat hole must be machined to the required tolerance standard.

Change the rigidity of the structure to change the critical frequency

In most applications, the rigidity of the bearing is almost the same as that of the surrounding structure, so the vibration of the whole equipment can be reduced by selecting the appropriate bearing (preloading and clearance) and configuration.
