A typical bearing isolation solid permanently isolates the bearing from its operating environment - moisture is not allowed to enter the bearing chamber during shutdown or start-up. In principle, this isolation solid seals the lubricating oil in the bearing chamber and isolates external pollution, such as sand and dust. However, in order for the bearing lubrication system to work properly, the bearing housing must be kept intact.
Here are some principles to help maintain motor bearings:
(1) The bearing spacer used must be a modern labyrinth sealing device recommended by the motor manufacturer for the motor.
(2) Note: the type of lubricating oil for bearing and bearing chamber must meet the type and rated temperature recommended by the manufacturer for the motor. If it is used for steel rolling and chemical motor, the lubricating oil shall be changed according to the chemical environment in which the motor operates.
(3) Fill the new lubricating oil into the bearing chamber according to the specified steps and drain the old lubricating oil. Specifically, remove the oil plug and nozzle from the bearing chamber, and then insert the nozzle into the hole at the bottom of the bearing. Start filling with new lubricating oil and observe that the old lubricating oil flows out of the hole at the top. New lubricating oil can be judged from viscosity and color. When finished, remove the oil fitting and place it in the hole at the top of the bearing housing, and then put the oil plug back into the hole at the bottom. Be careful not to plug the oil nozzle and plug too tightly because they are inclined and may cause cracking of the bearing chamber like a wedge.
(4) When replacing the lubricating oil, be careful not to apply too much pressure to make the lubricating oil enter the motor through the oil seal. The oil pressure generated by the ordinary oil gun is very large, which may be enough to destroy the oil seal of most bearing isolation rings. This is because this type of oil seal is usually only lightly matched in place. Therefore, if the oil gun is directly placed at the oil nozzle to inject oil (like lubricating the control lever of the automobile steering wheel), the integrity of the bearing chamber may be damaged. If the lubricating oil enters the end cover cavity of the motor, it will be thrown everywhere in the machine when the motor is running, which will hinder the normal air circulation and winding cooling. Unconstrained lubricating oil will also be coking into solid carbonization, which will intercept various particles and cause short circuit of motor winding.
Such careful maintenance of the motor is expected to keep the rolling elements clean and well lubricated. Prevention first and attention to bearing maintenance are expected to make the average service life of the bearing reach 150000h (about 17 years).
The physical properties of lubricating oil are very important. For example, some motors require conductive lubricating oil to prevent rotor capacitor charging. The arc generated by the rotor charge discharge will damage the contact surface of the rolling bearing.
